It happened last night. The two sweet, innocent looking young men you see in the picture above pushed the right button. They found my trigger. I was putting the kids to bed when I heard them.
“Hey Daaaaaaad. Where’s your 6-pack? Daaaaaad, what happened? We saw a picture of you from when you graduated from college and you had a 6-pack. What happened to it?”
Working with and meeting with hundreds of people over the years who wanted to make changes in their life, every one of them had a trigger. A favorite pair of pants didn’t fit. A physician told them if they didn’t make some changes to their lifestyle they wouldn’t be around much longer to enjoy their kids or grandkids. They just got sick and tired of being sick and tired. There was a specific moment that finally pushed them to the point where they decided it was time to take action and do something.
So now my focus has changed a little. It’s on…
Now let me clear a few things up. I work out very consistently. My nutrition is good. I do not hate how I look, think I am in terrible shape or beat myself up all the time. I am in “good” shape for me.
But not “great” shape for me. And that is my challenge.
A proper goal has to be measurable and have a deadline.
My birthday is 12 weeks from today. That gives me a deadline. A short enough time frame I can maintain focus. A long enough program to make some significant progress.
My bodyweight today is 197. On Saturday, August 24th I will weigh 185 or less.
I preach all the time about tracking and journaling your workouts and nutrition if you want to make serious changes.
I am going to do that and share it all right here. The good the bad and the ugly.
Each day for the next 12 weeks, I will post my food journal for the day and my workout (if I did one that day).
I would like to invite you to share your workout and food journal in the comment section of the daily posts if you would like.
So here we go. Tonight I will post Day 1 of my 12 week journal.
Special thanks to Owen and Nikolas for providing the inspiration.
