Tony’s 12 Week Challenge Day 34

July 4, 2013

Holiday.  Family get-together.  I tried to make some adjustments to what I would normally eat at an occasion like this.

Meal 1

Eggs, sausage

Meal 2

2 cheeseburgers (no bun), 2 brats (no bun), corn on the cob, mashed potatoes

Peach pie, vanilla ice cream  (my wife makes the BEST home-made pies!)

Meal 3

1 cheeseburger (no bun), 1 brat (no bun), corn on the cob

MORE peach pie, vanilla ice cream (did I mention that my wife makes the BEST home-made pies?)

I knew I was going to have pie and I knew I was going to have ice cream.

By not having buns with my cheeseburgers and brats, I saved 600 calories and 120 grams of carbohydrates.  I made up for it with the peach pie and ice cream, but this time around I didn’t have the double-whammy.

I sometimes use the saying at holiday time that “The meal is not over when you are full, it is over when you hate yourself.”

This time, I enjoyed my food, but did not get anywhere near the “hate myself” stage of consumption.

  3. I’m one of those unfortunates who have a tiblerre time with the heat. This summer was very challenging for me. Many outdoor projects weren’t finished. On the plus side, the extra portions of Brick beer to sooth my soul, were excellent.Thank goodness the weather has improved. In fact, the past couple of weeks, have been wonderful!

  4. Echoing Rick, I hate heat, so this summer was ubrnaeable. Not as bad as two years ago (or was it three?), but bad. And for those of you who say “love the heat, hate the humidity”…no. Nobody complains if it’s 10 or 15 with 100% humidity, ergo the humidity isn’t the issue.September has been wonderful. Actually comfortable.

  5. Geez, that’s unbelievable. Kudos and such.

  6. I’m impressed you should think of something like that
